Paulie

January 26, 1925 – September 26, 2008

Paul Newman was one of the most discerning men in Hollywood in the 20th Century.  A jack of all trades, Paul was an Actor, Film Director, Entrepreneur, and professional Racing Car Driver.  In his lifetime he recieved many awards, including an Academy Award for best actor for his performance in the 1968 Martin Scorsese film The Colour of Money.

Newman also founded "Newman's Own", a food-company from which he donated all post-tax profits to charity - an amount which has exceeded 300 million dollars today.

Despite being such a great guy, Paul was an incredibly well-dressed guy - epitomizing an all-American preppy look effortlessly...

Paul Newman is shown on location in Danbury, Connecticut, while directing for Warner Brothers Seven Arts 1968. The star of the picture was his wife, Joanne Woodward.

Paul Newman passed away in 2008 at the ripe ol' age of 83, surrounded by his close family and friends.

Here's to Paul for setting such great example.

Ever since Cam shaved his beard off a few weeks back, we've come to realise just how much we appreciate beards.  This post is nothing more than a bit of Friday Beard-love.

Thankyou to Erin of I Made You A Beard for her dedication to all-things beards, and for supplying us with these images.

Observation

Observation in philosophical terms is the process of filtering sensory information through the thought process. Input is received via hearing, sight, smell, taste, or touch and then analyzed through either rational or irrational thought. With the passage of time, impressions stored in the consciousness about many related observations permit the individual to build a construct about other individuals and their appearance. The defining characteristic of observation is that it involves drawing conclusions, as well as building personal views about our surroundings.

A persons work indeed reflects a lot upon its personality. By observing the behavior and appearance of an individual you can take a good guess on what they are occupied with most of their time. Fore some people it is very important what your profession is and for some it does not matter that much. One thing is sure though, what you wear and how you wear it, is a reflection of your work and the other way around. Some trades require a strict dress code and leaves only small, yet very important details to play with, while some professions have developed their own subcultures with focus on style.
