Chocolate

We first took notice of the Mast Brothers a year or so ago, and Austin visited their chocolate shop in Brooklyn this past December... So we thought we'd share a little of their magic once more with this video via coolhunting.  Enjoy.

Goodbye Horses - Behind the scenes...

The folks over at Antipodium sent us through some great behind the scenes images of "Goodbye Horses" being photographed in London...

Enjoy the weekend...

Dirtbox

Goodbye Horses

This season Antipodium takes a trip. Cruising through burning sunsets and truck stop diners, midnight roadhouse bars and lonely tumbledown motels, Goodbye Horses draws on a sense of adventure; that rush of excitement, of growing up, hitting the road and being free.

With Q Lazzarus’ ‘80s electro-pop track Goodbye Horses as its soundtrack, Antipodium’s road trippers wear a palette of rich tans and warm desert browns, apricot, dusk and tobacco, with gingham and tweed, corduroy and super-soft wools faded and textured like polished agate.

Goodbye Horses’ narrative – of escape and freedom – is holiday and festival friendly, the uniform of laid back travellers exploring the world under the winter skies. But there’s a poignant beauty to this journey, the desert bisected by the endless freeway – this is the American West of David Lynch, of JT Leroy’s Sarah, influenced by Finch’s own experiences growing up in rural Australia.

All the way from East London, we bring you Antipodium...

Get your hoof on before it gallops out the door!

Austin

Austin has worked at Dirtbox three years come August, and is the man behind most of our blog posts.  When he isn't at Dirtbox, Austin studies Fine Arts (Fashion) at QUT, and one day hopes to have a brand of his own.  His passions include art, film, and travelling amongst other things.  Here is a little Q&A to get to know Austin better...

Who do you admire?

A lot of people. James Dean, Jackson Pollock, Peggy from Mad Men, Paul Newman... There's just way too many to list them all.  But mostly my sister, she's incredibly good at saving.
Favourite film?
A tie between The King's Speech, Pan's Labyrinth, and There Will Be Blood.

What are you reading?

I just picked up "Of mice and men" by John Steinbeck. It was a gift from a good friend.

What is your favourite thing you own?
My Margaret Howell Fairisle Knit Jumper, I bought it in New York and I'll probably
have it until the day I die - and my APC backpack, it goes everywhere with me.

What do you recommend to eat in Brisbane?

My friend Dan makes the nicest avocado, hommus and tomato on toasted sourdough.
Find him at CUP in West End, they have really nice coffee as well.

What is your favourite label in-store and why?

I just bought a Gitman Vintage check long sleeve which is particularly well-made and comfortable.
But I've collected a fair bit of B-store over the years, so I'll be loyal and say them.

Thank you Austin...
